November 8, 2024 – 9:00 am to 3:00 pm 

Winnipeg School Division, Transportation Department is presently recruiting qualified full-time and part-time school bus drivers to work a minimum of 4.00 hours per day.

Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, a school bus driver ensures the safe and systematic transportation of students to and from school according to the procedure set out by the Province of Manitoba and the Winnipeg School Division.

  • Paid training provided
  • Class 2 Drivers - 3 weeks (up to 40 hours per week)
  • Class 5 Drivers - 6 weeks (up to 40 hours per week)

Presentations and interview times available throughout the day.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years' driving experience satisfactory to the employer. 
  • Customer service experience including in-person contact with the public. 
  • Experience with conflict management in a work setting. 
  • Driving experience in adverse weather conditions (Ex. Snow and ice) is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of City of Winnipeg landmarks, streets and bus route knowledge. 
  • Strong map reading skills. 
  • Well-developed verbal communication skills. 
  • Written communication skills including the ability to understand and follow Transit policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to operate vehicles safely, while driving defensively and within standard safety guidelines, regulations and requirements of the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act. 
  • Ability to multi-task. 
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to work independently. 

Conditions of employment: 

  • The successful applicant must possess and maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. 
  • A Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check satisfactory to the employer will be required from the applicant(s) or successful candidate(s), at their expense when requested. 
  • Must hold and maintain a full valid Manitoba Class 5 (5F) driver's license. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class 2 driver's license. 
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to: 
    • Sitting for extended periods of time, reaching, twisting at the waist and neck, grip and leg strength.
