Message from our Principal

Welcome to Fort Rouge School! We are a small, downtown school in Winnipeg School Division, where we celebrate our diversity and embrace our differences. We welcome families from all over the world. Many students were born in different countries and have come to Canada with their families. Some students come from communities outside Winnipeg and settled in our area. We are proud to help everyone live and learn.  

We know that the land where our school was built is rich in history and we are thankful for the safe space where we can grow and learn. This year, we will start each day with an updated Land Acknowledgement that shows that we recognize the land and the peoples who came before us. 

We believe a strong connection between the home, school, and community is important for creating a safe and caring learning environment. We truly believe that all of our students are learners and leaders. We include them in the learning process to meet intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs. We also believe that we cannot do it alone – we are partners with you in your child’s education and growth. Your ideas and suggestions are very important to us and we invite you to talk often with the classroom teachers, visit our Family Room, and join our monthly Parent Advisory Council meetings.
