The Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreational Council NAIG Legacy Scholarships

Award Amount: Sixteen awards, each worth $600
Who can apply?
- Indigenous students graduating from Grade 12 and who are enrolled into a full time University or other recognized post-secondary institution
- Candidates must have proficiency in sport and have a minimum 65% average in his/her grades
- Scholarships will be awarded to Indigenous youth who have shown athletic leadership in Manitoba's amateur sport community through well rounded participation as an athlete, as well as on the basis of academic standing, and other school/community related activities
What will I have to do?
Submit a completed application
Proof of Indigenous ancestry: photocopy of Indian status, Metis, or Inuit card
A letter from the principal verifying the candidate's character, involvement in other school programs/services and school citizenship
A letter from the coach indicating the candidate's character and athletic ability
Latest transcript of marks
A letter from the applicant describing their sport involvement and future plans in sport. Please include:
Sport Awards Received (i.e. All-Star, MVP, Player of the Game, etc.) Please be specific; include name of tournament, event championship, etc. and date
Highlights (Outstanding accomplishments in sports)
School/Community Participation (Please include activity, your role, how long you have been involved (i.e. athletic council, treasurer, etc.)

Premier’s Healthy Living Scholarship for Youth

- Award applicants must be graduating students set to enter post-secondary who have made an outstanding contribution to their school and/or community in one of the following areas: Active Living, Healthy Eating, Healthy Sexuality, Mental Health Promotion, Safety & Injury Prevention, Substance Abuse & Addictions or Tobacco Reduction
What will I have to do?
- The application and statement will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- The extent of the applicant’s healthy living contributions in their school and/or community
- The degree to which the applicant’s contributions fall into one or more of the specified healthy living areas of achievement
- The impact of the applicant’s contributions in their school and/or community
- The quality of response to the statement question

The University of the Aftermarket Foundation Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000
Who can apply?
- Qualified applicants must either be a graduating high school senior or have graduated from high school within the past two years
- To receive a scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in a college-level program, university or an accredited automotive technical program through either a CAMPE (Canadian Association of Motive Power Educators) college or a CARS approved institute
- Students must be enrolled full-time in Canada for the year of the scholarship
What do I have to do?
- Scholarship application must be accompanied by an official high school transcript
- A letter of recommendation
- An essay of at least 250 words in length, no longer than one page, double-spaced, indicating why you believe you deserve to be chosen to receive a scholarship

BigSun Scholarship

Manitoba Beef Producers Scholarships
Deadline: June 21, 2024
Award Amount: Six awards each worth $1,000
Who can apply?
- Must be an active Manitoba beef producer or the child of an active Manitoba beef producer
- Note: This can also include active beef producers returning to school after a period of time in the workforce
- Must be pursuing post-secondary studies or trades training in the 2023-2024 academic year
- Post-secondary programs or trades training must be a minimum of one academic year in duration
What will I have to do?
- Complete the application form
- Submit either a typed 600-word essay OR a 5-7 minute video discussing the topic “What the beef industry means to my family, my community and Manitoba.”
- You will need to identify in the essay or video the reasons you enjoy being involved in agriculture
- A copy of your transcript (either high school, or a recognized college, university or trade school)
- Proof of enrolment in a recognized institution (current transcript, or your acceptance letter, or a letter of intent indicating your intended institution and field of study for 2023-2024)
- A list of your community involvement (e.g. 4-H, community clubs, volunteer work, etc.)

Louis Riel Institute’s Senator Gerry & Margaret St. Germain Award
The Louis Riel Institute’s Senator Gerry & Margaret St. Germain Award aims to support exceptional Grade 12 students in Manitoba who excel in math and/or science and actively contribute to their community. As a high school educator, we kindly request your assistance in spreading the word to your students who meet the eligibility criteria.

Award Amount: Two outstanding recipients will be selected, and each will receive a generous $1,000 to aid their educational journey.

Grade 12 students who excel in math and/or science and are actively involved in the Red River Métis community. Open to students attending school in Manitoba.

What will I have to do?
- Record Your Video: Create a short video (1-3 minutes) where you discuss one of the major issues facing young people today. Tell us what you think needs to be done to address it. Be creative, be honest, and be yourself. You must mention in the video that it is for the FurnacePrices.ca scholarship.
- Submit Your Application: Upload your video to a video-sharing platform (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and fill out the application form on our website. You’ll need to include your contact information, a link to your video, and a brief description of the issue you’re discussing.
- Share Your Vision: Post your video on social media with the hashtag #FPVoiceoftheFuture and tag us @furnaceprices.ca. Let’s get the conversation started and show the world the power of your ideas.

National Union's Scholarship Program

Award Amount: Six scholarships worth $2,500 each
Who can apply?
- Entrants must be the children, grandchildren or foster children or grandchildren of members or retirees of the National Union and who are planning to enter the 1st year of a Canadian public, post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis in 2023
- Entrants for the Brian Fudge Memorial Scholarship must be planning to enter a field of study in policing, criminal justice, community services or health care
- Entrants for the Scholarship for Black Students must be African American students entering their first year of post-secondary studies and taking a full course load
- Entrants for the Scholarship for Indigenous Students must be Indigenous students entering their first year of post-secondary studies and taking a full course load
- Entrants for the Scholarship for Students of Colour must be POC students entering their first year of post-secondary studies and taking a full course load

Who Should Apply?
- Canadian students pursuing first undergraduate degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution
- Selection committee will consider financial need, community involvement, connection to the Norwegian community, interest in Norwegian culture, and affiliation with Sons of Norway
