On Thursday, September 26th, the staff and students of Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute came together to commemorate Truth and Reconciliation Day, marking a powerful afternoon of learning, reflection, and community.

A Day of Reflection and Education

The afternoon was filled with impactful activities, beginning with speeches and heartfelt readings by DMCI students, who shared thoughts and reflections on the significance of Truth and Reconciliation. The school's Young Warriors Drum Group performed a moving musical presentation, setting a thoughtful and respectful tone for the day's events.

Art, Pledges, and a Whole-School Round Dance

In addition to the speeches and performances, the student body participated in several hands-on activities, designed to foster a deeper understanding of the path to reconciliation. Students created meaningful art projects, signed orange shirt pledge forms, and joined together in a whole-school round dance, symbolizing unity and solidarity.

Sharing Food and Tradition

To further honor the occasion, students and staff enjoyed traditional bannock and stew, coming together in a spirit of community and respect.

Every Child Matters

The day was an opportunity for students and staff to learn, reflect, and take part in meaningful dialogue about reconciliation. We all agree on one important message: Every Child Matters.

This day of reflection will continue to resonate within our school community as we move forward together on the path to truth and reconciliation.
