We are so excited to see everyone come together in La Zone (LaV's library)!

Meet the Librarian

Bonjour École LaVérendrye Community!

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Madame Ginette and I am absolutely ecstatic to be the librarian-in-training at École LaVérendrye! It will be so exciting to grow in knowledge and passion for literacy along with your children as I learn about my new role amongst them. What a wonderful endeavour to have librarians return and once again have them be an integral part in the school system. I can't wait to see the many great things that will come of it!

This year my goal is simple...return to the basics! We will concentrate on the expectations in the library, such as how to be respectful and responsible in that specific space. We will learn about the appropriate noise level expected in the library, how to care for the books and all the ways the library can be utilized now that there is a dedicated adult in the space. I will teach the students how to use their own personal library cards and how to use P.A.C. (a library search engine not only for our school, but also for the division) so they can search out books independently. This will be an especially useful tool for our teachers looking for books for certain projects.

At the moment I am working diligently on enriching our French collection of books. I hope to create a warm and welcoming space for our kiddos to come to, one where they get excited to unwind, relax and 'hang out' in! Please watch for updates on new posters, plants, and books we've read together!

With all that being said, it is extremely rare to see me without a book in my hands when I am not working, so I feel like I am where I belong. I hope my love for literacy and tranquility will spread to your children as they get to know me, and we develop a relationship over time.
