Faraday School is over 100 years old! All Faraday families and alumni were invited to join us for cake and a special birthday celebration on June 16th, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 pm. The students kicked off our event by performing a song and dance outside in front of the school. Following that, there were tours inside the school, additional performances by students, and several food trucks available to purchase food throughout the event. It was wonderful to celebrate with all of the past and present students, families, and staff!

Faraday School opened in 1922 at a cost of $95,246.00 under the principalship of A.E. Goodridge. The original building had 6 classrooms on the main floor and 7 on the second. In 1925, an addition was built that mirrored the original structure. A major renovation updated the school in 1986 at the cost of half a million dollars. Faraday has educated students from Nursery to Grade 9 over the years and today is a Nursery to Grade 6 school.

Faraday School is located in the Winnipeg School Division’s North District. Our school originally opened in 1922 without a library. In 1969 a library was created and became a much loved part of our school by students and teachers alike. Then, several years ago, it had been dismantled and repurposed. Although it became an additional learning space for students, the shelves upon shelves of stories and books of all levels and genres were greatly missed. In 2020, it was converted back to our beloved library with the help of a dedicated parent volunteer, Kim Meuling, who has since become a very integral part of our library staff.

Faraday School is named for Michael Faraday, an English physicist, chemist, and natural philosopher who is possibly the greatest experimental genius the world has known. Faraday is aptly named, having a long standing reputation for creating an exciting, successful learning environment for all students.
