Mr. Macdonell

March 7, 2025

February has been a busy and exciting month in our classroom! In math, we have been focusing on division. Students have been learning how to divide with remainders and are now working on long division. They have been developing their problem-solving skills and mental math strategies to help them become more confident with division.

In Social Studies, we have been exploring government, including the different levels of government and the leaders who represent us. Students have been learning about how government helps to meet the needs of citizens and how decisions are made at different levels.

In Science, we are nearing the end of our unit on light! Throughout this unit, students have explored the properties of light, including how it travels, reflects, and bends. They have also investigated natural and artificial light sources and how light is used in technology.

In ELA, we have been strengthening both our reading comprehension and writing skills. Students have been working on their book reviews, focusing on summarizing, forming opinions, and supporting their thoughts with evidence. We have also been making steady progress with our spelling program.

Please continue to encourage at-home reading and ensure reading logs are kept up to date. Daily reading helps build fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary!
